Natalia Rodríguez Eugenio

Natalia Rodríguez Eugenio, a Spanish national residing in Rome, is a Land and Water Officer at the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation, and member of the Global Soil Partnership secretariat. After graduating in biology from La Laguna University and obtaining a Master’s Degree in Sustainable Land Management and Protection from Murcia University, Natalia completed her PhD in Edaphology in 2014. After more than 15 years’ experience in sustainable land management, Natalia is currently coordinating the implementation of activities and projects to prevent the degradation and restoration of soil health and land management, the technical management of different projects of the Alliance, and is the regional facilitator of the European Soil Partnership and its subregional branches in Eurasia, the Balkans, the Alps and the Pyrenees. . Before joining the FAO, she worked as an expert in soil contamination at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission, where she published an important report on the State of Soil Contamination in Europe; she was also a soil expert in quality control and GIS, where she helped to carry out the soil mapping of Ecuador After publishing a book and several scientific articles on the subject, Natalia was the lead author and coordinator of the report on the Global Assessment of Soil Contamination, a flagship publication of the FAO involving over 200 experts.
