Coinciding with the Soiluzioak 2023 Soil Protection Congress, the Common Forum on Contaminated Land in Europe – a network of thirty or so contaminated land specialists from the different Environmental Authorities of the Member States and regions of the European Union and of European Free Trade Association Countries – will hold its autumn meeting from 9 to 11 September, where Ihobe will represent the Basque Country, the host region of the meeting.
The forum, founded in 1994, is a platform to exchange expertise and experience, to initiate and follow up on international projects among its members, as well as being a discussion platform on policy, research and management of contaminated land. Furthermore, it offers an exchange of expertise to other stakeholders thanks to its collaboration with European and international networks in this area.
The representatives at the meeting, which will be held at the Euskalduna Conference Centre, will include those from Austria – the network’s secretary -, France, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Flanders and the Walloon Region, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Lithuania, Catalonia and the Basque Country.
Ihobe will take the opportunity of the Common Forum being held parallel to the Soiluzioak 2023 Congress, to share the experience of this network with the congress delegates, by means of a group open session focused on the new proposed European Directive on Soil Monitoring and Resilience.
