After graduating in Law from Deusto University, Iker Bergaretxe worked as a lawyer for eight years, mainly in the field of administrative law and urban planning, until he joined the publicly-run company SPRILUR, answering to the Basque Government’s Ministry for Economic Development, Sustainability and the Environment, in 2003.
Between 2007 and 2015, he took on different institutional remits as Director of Urban Planning or of Transport at Bizkaia Provincial Government; he was also a member of different entities of the administration such as the Spatial Planning Committee of the Basque Country (COTPV) and the Basque Transport Authority.
He is currently Deputy Director of SPRILUR.
